Traditionally inspired digs in the UNESCO-listed village of Pyrgos, with daily breakfast, plus wine and fruit on arrival

Most visitors to Santorini choose to stay on the caldera rim overlooking the sea, or close to the island’s east-coast beaches. However, if you stray inland, you'll avoid the crowds and discover a quieter side to the island, where you’ll never have to jostle for space and can still enjoy stunning views of the Aegean Sea.

Kastro Mansion sits in the heart of Pyrgos, a pretty UNESCO-listed village in the center of the island, and peers down over Santorini and the sparkling waters from its high perch. One of five former watchtowers, the ancient property has been transformed into a luxury boutique hotel, reimagined in the traditional Cycladic style.

Your friendly host will bring breakfast to your accommodation each morning, and you can shop at the local markets for juicy tomatoes and fresh feta to make Instagram-worthy Greek salads right in your own kitchen. Head to the villages of Imerovigli or Oia for a night out, book a sightseeing tour or wine tasting around the island, or drive to one of the nearby beaches to kick back on those famous black volcanic sands.

Good to know

Please note that an accommodation tax of €0.50 per room, per night is payable directly to the hotel.

Most visitors to Santorini choose to stay on the caldera rim, overlooking the Aegean, or close to the island’s east-coast beaches, where tiny streets are thronged with visitors seeking a glimpse of fiery sunsets over the sea. Head inland, however, and you’ll discover a quieter side to the island, while still enjoying stunning sea views. You'll love the 'little castle" built into the foundations of the UNESCO-listed Medieval village of Pyrgos in the very heart of the island, and there are plenty of tavernas, bars and shops in the village. As Santorini is such a small island, it’s still a short drive to most of the island’s busier neighborhoods.
