A central, modern Paduan hotel with excellent city views from the 12th-floor restaurant - includes a dining discount, welcome gift and breakfast

The north Italian city of Padua in the Veneto region is full of surprises, from well-preserved medieval marketplaces to Italy’s second oldest university, established 800 years ago. Adding a rather more contemporary string to the city’s bow with its sleek modern facade, Hotel NH Padova was formerly named after 15th-century Paduan painter Andrea Mantegna, with reproductions of his work displayed throughout the building. Enter into a light and airy, double-height, glass-encased lobby, with oversized pot plants and statement red designer chaises.

The high point of the hotel has to be its twelfth-floor restaurant, which serves up superb views across the city and is a great place to get your bearings before setting forth to explore. You can easily walk into the city centre from here, as well as to the train station and to PadovaFiere exhibition centres. If you’re staying for more than a couple of days, be sure to make memorable day trips to Venice and Verona, both of which are easily accessible by train. For its seamless approach to hospitality, Hotel NH Padova has been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
